At Petal UMC we have created ministry opportunities to serve the needs of our members as well as the community in which we live.  Our adult ministries include:

Sunday School

Petal UMC offers 2 adult Sunday School classes.  The curriculum is designed to build relationships through authentic conversation and using the Bible as the source to find the truth.

United Methodist Men

The mission of UMM is to support spiritual growth among men, helping men to mature as disciples as they encourage spiritual formation in others.  The UMM of Petal UMC meet monthly, typically at 7 AM on the 3rd Sunday of the month, where they will enjoy a fellowship breakfast. They often provide assistance to our community and support the missions of the local church.

United Methodist Women

The UMW is a faith based membership organization of laywomen within the United Methodist Church.  The Ruth Circle of the UMW at Petal UMC meets at 9:00 on the 1st Tuesday of each month.  Along with educational studies throughout the year, this group of women are actively engaged in service in and around the community.  Among the many things that they do is provide lunch for the USM Wesley Foundation, support the Women’s Job Corp by providing meals during their training, and supporting the Petal Children’s Task Force.

Card Ministry

Our card ministry meets faithfully each Wednesday at noon and sends cards of encouragement, condolences, and get well wishes to our homebound members, those in the hospital, and those whose names have been requested for prayer.  They also make monthly contact with our college students and military members.

Caring Ministries

These ministries focus on the personal touch of caring for one another.

We acknowledge that homebound visitation is not only the responsibility of the pastor but of each one of us.  Our members faithfully check in on one another as needed.

Our Meals on Hand ministry meets on an as needed basis and prepares and freezes small casserole meals which are provided to our homebound, those who have recently returned from the hospital, or others who may be temporarily unable to prepare meals for themselves.

Our Hospitality Ministry meets a wide variety of needs throughout the year.  Among other things, we are honored to host the Survivors and Caregivers Reception for the City of Petal’s Relay For Life event.
