Church can be an intimidating place to visit — especially if you don’t know what to expect. We invite you to experience what the gospel means both intellectually and relationally at one of our Sunday worship services. You can engage with others as much as you want, or remain anonymous if you prefer. We hope that through visiting with us, you will experience the hope, love and joy that comes from a community of people who love Jesus.
We look for God’s love in our lives as the evidence that we have been truly worshipping Him. At Petal United Methodist Church, worship is central to everything. Worship means learning to recognize God’s goodness while delighting to deepen in our responses.
It means purposing together, as individuals and as a community, to unite our actions, intentions, and emotions in loving response to God. It means transforming the ways we think so that what we do and who we are become one—in, for, through, and to the Father, Son, and Spirit.
At Petal UMC we offer two worship experiences. We offer a traditional worship experience at 9 AM. In this service you will experience God through traditional hymns, Creeds, Scripture readings, and of course a Bible based message from our Lead Pastor.
At 11 Am in the fellowship hall we offer what we like to call our reThink Service. In this service you will experience God in a relaxed atmosphere with a cup of coffee or bottle of water in your hand, or even while you eat breakfast. You will hear contemporary praise songs by our great praise band, and again a Bible based message from our Lead Pastor. We also celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion every week in our reThink service. So, come as you are and relax as we have church.
We believe that practical, relevant teaching is the catalyst for transformation in an individual's life.
We value Scripture—the Bible—as the basis for understanding who God is and how to orient our lives fully around Him. You can expect that each Sunday morning will include a set-aside time for hearing from Scripture, as well as practical teaching surrounding God's Word.
We offer Sunday School classes for all ages at 10 AM.
We also offer small gatherings in community here at Petal UMC on Wednesday Nights after our SoulFood Cafe meal. The Meal begins at 5:45 PM and classes begin at 6:15 PM
We know that attending a church service for the first time can be a super scary thing... Being unsure of what the dress, culture or even when to stand up and sit down can be a weirdly paralyzing thought! At Anthem, you can expect friendly and authentic people, engaging and relevant music and worship, compelling preaching from the Bible, and an opportunity to encounter God. You will be encouraged and maybe even challenged.
We've created a first-time visitors guide that will help you navigate your first time at a Petal UMC gathering, and help ease any questions or concerns you might have before attending. To request a first-time guide, click the link below.
